It’s fun and easy to work with. If you like what you see, you can use the tool to schedule an appointment with Kelly Roofing’s Tesla Certified Project Manager.
Solar Suitability
Sometimes customers ask us if their location is suitable for solar power. Here in Florida, you don’t have to worry. As long as you’re in our state, the answer is “yes.” We have more sunshine than we know what to do with. In fact, there’s enough sun in Florida to power the whole planet’s demand if it were deployed appropriately. By installing a Tesla Solar Roof on your home, you’re doing your part to harness solar energy, help the environment, and become energy independent.
Installing Tesla Solar Roofs
The installation process takes 6 – 8 weeks in total.
Phase One
This is the shorter phase and typically lasts a few days. Our Project Manager will conduct a home energy audit. This tells us how much energy you use and how you use it. Your home energy audit results are then used to determine how large of a system you need. We will share the pros and cons of a Tesla Powerwall with you. A Powerwall is not required, but it does make solar energy more efficient and convenient. It stores extra power made during the day so you can use it at night or when sunlight is scarce. With this information, we can give you a more precise quote.
Phase Two
Once you review and accept our proposal, we send it to Tesla for an engineering design layout. There will be a short waiting period while Tesla designs, manufactures, and ships your Tesla Solar Roof and Powerwall.
Phase Three
Phase three is the actual installation, which takes roughly two weeks. Our specialists will tear off and dispose of your existing roof. Then, they will install your new Tesla Solar Roof. With your new solar roof in place, our installers have just a few more tasks to complete. They call your power company for you to complete the utility agreement hookup. Your power company will typically install a new meter, one that spins both forward and backward. This will give you credit for energy you are producing back into the grid. If you have a Tesla Powerwall installed, you have the option of disconnecting from the grid completely. Any extra energy your Tesla Solar Roof makes is stored in the Powerwall for later use.
Florida Building Codes and Solar
As the proud new owner of a Tesla Solar Roof, you will be a trendsetter. But thankfully, the state of Florida is keeping up with the trends.
A new Florida building code went into effect on January 1, 2021. We were pleased to see there’s an entire chapter dedicated to solar roofs. Section ASCE 7-16 addresses requirements for solar glass roof compliance. Kelly Roofing is proud to be a Certified Tesla Solar Roof and Powerwall installer. We are happy to help you become the neighborhood trendsetter with your own Tesla Solar Roof. Use the Tesla Decider Pricing Pro to learn more, or feel free to contact us directly with any questions.
